Friends Forever

Cate is going to be reunited with two of her Changzhou sister-friends tomorrow. I can't wait. I can't wait to meet these beautiful girls and their wonderful mothers. We will all share a unique lifelong bond and I am thrilled for Cate, and for all of the children adopted through the XingFu program, that they will have the opportunity to become (or remain) friends and share connections to their past about which, we their parents, know so very little.

I am almost 100% sure our girls were friends. Cate went crazy when she first saw Fang Fang's picture appear on our laptop. And she signs "more" whenever she watches a little video of Brie. Will it be like a reunion of school friends, a reunion of family members? We probably won't really know. They are only ages two and four. Sometimes when I pick Alex up at school, I am pretty sure a stranger, observing the situation, would think Alex has never laid eyes on me before. Other times I am tackled with hugs and exclamations of love.

So, stay tuned for tomorrow's reunion photos!
I am also proud of the bond Alex and Cate have formed. It has been just under two months ince we first met Cate. Again, I think a stranger, looking in, would find that hard to believe. Alex is a great big brother. He really is. And Cate just loves him. Of course, they have their moments. But I am truly amazed by their bond. Even their mother, looking in, can't believe it has been less than two months.
But more about that later. I have to get ready for tomorrow.

We watched the video of Cate singing today (again) and Fang Fang signed "more" about ten times (no exaggeration). I eventually had to drag her away from the computer kicking and crying. I told her that XiXi is coming tomorrow and everytime I say XiXi's name she suddenly gets very still and has this far away look in her eyes. It's pretty intense. So I'm very, very curious to see how all three of these girls react when they see each other again. I feel so lucky to have so many of her sisters so close by. It's definitely a gift.

Ryan is downstairs cleaning house right now as I write this (and I'm upstairs making sure Fang Fang doesn't roll out of our bed). I can't wait! See you in a few!
