Tonight's tubside conversation...
Some things are hard to explain to a five year old. Inauguration... Something for the pages of history.... Why isn't a president just a president forever? All this before touching on why Obama's inauguration is historical... a lot of deep thinking for a small boy... I decided to sum it up with something that would seem concrete.
"Well, Alex, the amazing thing about our country is that anyone can try to be president if that is what they want to be. YOU could be president someday."
I can see the wheels spinning quickly. Any minute he will announce his candidacy...
"Mom, do you have to leave home to be president?"
"Well, you would get to live in the White House."
"Well if I have to leave home, I am not doing it."
It's nice to be loved.
